Minutes: Read and approved (Dias/Lemcke)

Treasurer's report: (K. Webb) The Bank of the West checking account has $15,008.36; CDs in Chase Bank, Bank of the West, Pacific National total $9,054.14; approved (Dias/Emcke). We will put $5,000 from our checking account into a CD at Pacific National; approved (Emcke/Dias).

Librarian's Report: (Dos Santos) During the renovation of the library, availability of space for a book sale was inconclusive; we may know in two months. The Friends will provide $200 for two display cases from San Jose library: approved (Kent/Dias). Kent asked there might be paperbook racks at an equally favorable price. There is $4,000 set aside for art in the renovation funds; a mural has been suggested by the Advisory Committee. The board declined to support buying passes for the Asian Art Museum.

Book Sale Committee (Kent): The June Book Sale earned $1,653. $900 will be given to the library; approved (Kent/Sweeney). June and July are not profitable enough for future sales. C. Webb suggested expanding our e-mail contacts to gain more volunteers. Kent suggested that we upgrade the Friends' banner; (approved C. Webb/Dias). Kent is building up our offerings of specialty books.

Newsletter: Dias will prepare; Kent will take care of printing. E-mail Dias with Ideas. Kent said that Kaiser Hospital in Hayward offers a free book exchange on the fourth Tuesday of every month and free books are offered, also. Howard Beckman does the web site. Next Book Sale is September 17th through the 23rd with setting up on September 16th. Put in a notice about Sally Salo's passing.

Membership: (Lemcke) We have two new members.

Additional Funds for Library: (Kent) Have donation jar at Farmers' Market; also suggest selling paperbacks and children's books.

Equipment: (Dias) We need to purchase and safe-guard new coffee urn. C. Webb Will look into purchase of locked filing cabinet.

Name Change: New name will be San Lorenzo Friends of the Library, Incorporated; approved (Kent/Dias).
