Meeting began at 6:09 pm.
Anthony Dos Santos' reported on the following:
-
- April 15 will be the closure of library for renovation and is tentatively expected to reopen on July 19.
- Our books will be stored at the old Castro Valley Library.
- Some programs will be held at the Homes Assoc. Building.
- Regarding the Farmer's Market, which will open in May, the library staff may have a weekly presence there.
- There will be a Planning Dept. Meeting on March 31st at the Homes Assoc. Building. The Redevelopment Agency has a fund of $10 million to be used toward a small expansion of our library.
- Regarding the Centennial celebration - the new date is Saturday, October 2, 2010.
Betty Moose reported on the following:
-
- There will be a donor's list for the Centennial and there will also be fundraisers for the event.
- The "Friends" will have a booth for selling books.
- The money coming in will be put in a separate account established for the Centennial. The checks are to be made out to the "Friends of the Library-San Lorenzo Area", designating "100th Anniversary". Betty Moose will be able to draw from this account.
Natalie Kent reported on the following:
-
- She might want to rent a booth for personal reasons at the Centennial.
- The following names have been given complimentary memberships for their years of volunteering:
Dennis Paduveris, Don Either, and Carmen Either.
- Lynn McGann has volunteered to do our website.
Minutes: Corrections were made to the February Minutes as follows: CD account should be $9,123.58 instead of $1,123.58. Kent moved and Lemcke seconded and corrected minutes were approved.
Karen Webb reported on Treasurer's report: Balance $14,851.40, CDs - $9,123.58, Book Sale - $1,374.25. Lemcke moved and Dias seconded and report was approved.
Ed Lemcke made following comments on an expansion of the library and eventually building a new library
in the future. Agreeing to an expansion is too dangerous and will stop new library plans. Ashland and Cherryland will be giving money for the redevelopment. Hillcrest Knolls and Fairmont Terrace people should be asked if they are interested in donating to redevelopment fund.
Because of the closure, the membership meeting will not be held in April and will be rescheduled. However, a regular Board Meeting will be held on April 26th with the location to be determined.
Respectfully submitted,
Marilyne Dias
